Press punching

Press punching consists in punching or stamping of a specific shape using specialised machines called presses. Our plant uses two types of presses:

• Eccentric presses with pressure up to 320 tons
• Hydraulic presses with pressure up to 160 tons.

Punching is a simple and quick process that produces various shapes, mainly in sheet metal. The punching itself is made possible by suitable machines equipped with blanking dies that press down on the sheet metal with great force and punch out components with the desired dimensions. Modern machines and tools used for punching are characterised by a high degree of flexibility, resulting in very high dimensional accuracy and shorter lead times.

The main challenge of precision punching is the right choice of blanking dies or punching dies, as their strength must be greater than the strength of the sheet metal to be punched. Otherwise, we may not get the desired shape and dimension and the material or machine may be damaged. Sometimes the dies and punches used in the punching or embossing process are designed and manufactured exclusively for one specific order. This requires more experience from press operators.
