Machining large components is a great challenge

Machining large components is a great challenge

Machining very large components is a major challenge, especially for small metalworking workshops. Such machining involves, among other things, the need to use special machines or to select suitable technical parameters for a particular component. Large-scale machining is a broad term, as there are many machining processes involved. The most common processes are plastic machining or machining methods such as milling and turning. The large dimensions of the components make this process quite specific and present additional challenges. Often, large components are produced in small batches or as single pieces, but then it is difficult to ensure quality and precision.

A major challenge in large-scale machining is also the selection of suitable machines and tools. Due to the large number of surfaces to be machined, the tools must be extremely durable and their wear must be as low as possible. That is why modern machines are equipped with computer control systems, which precisely define the parameters of the entire production. In some cases, the large size of the component means that it weighs a lot, which causes problems when mounting it on the worktable. In addition, complex shapes can affect the accuracy and precision of machining.

W also carry out large-scale machining, i.e. we mill and turn with the aid of computer control. CNC machining in the case of milling and turning offers us the best parameters: precision, accuracy, high efficiency, speed and repeatability. For CNC milling of large components we use a Chiron 23 vertical machining centre, model FZ 18L from the High Speed series, which allows us to mill components with dimensions of 400x400x2000 mm. For smaller dimensions we use Brother TC -32A series machines and Chiron FZ12 for large series. For CNC turning, on the other hand, we use CNC lathes with which we can produce a wide variety of parts and also high volumes.
