Interestingly, there are four different ways to drill holes with a laser. Among the fastest methods is "shooting" holes through the material using single pulses (single-pulse drilling). Spiral drilling, on the other hand, takes the longest time but ensures high precision. Percussion drilling is characterised by short, consecutive implosions that impact the material at the same point and drill a hole. Trepanning, on the other hand, involves cutting a through hole, which is then gradually enlarged by applying a circular motion of the laser beam.
