Growing laser power is intended to enhance the efficiency of cutting processes in practice. However, in reality, it can lead to issues related to the overheating of optical components. Laser optics, namely the laser lens, is an exceptionally sensitive element of any fiber laser cutting machine. Laser optics is responsible for the proper shaping of the laser beam (cutting precision) and, at the same time, is a highly vulnerable element to damage. The relationship is such that the higher the laser power, the higher the temperature it reaches. Therefore, each such element can generate additional losses. Additionally, there is a risk of very unfavorable phenomena occurring.
If the lenses function correctly only up to a certain temperature, we talk about the proper functioning of the laser. However, if we have too high a temperature, the lifespan of the lens is shortened, making its anti-reflective layers more susceptible to damage. Additionally, thermal lensing may occur, meaning that the length of the focal point changes with the temperature increase. A fiber laser is a type of laser where light always passes through the optics, so regardless of the device s operating frequency, it will always heat up. With low laser power, a temperature increase of a few or a dozen degrees will not significantly affect the cutting process.
Laser cutting services involve a precise cutting process, so we take care of the best parameters for the optical elements of our ADIGE LT 8.20 fiber laser cutting machine with a tilting head allowing cutting at an angle of up to 45°. More about our fiber lasers can be found on our website, and we will also personally answer all questions at our factory in Strzelce Krajeńskie, ul. Cmentarna 6.
