Laser is a device which emits electromagnetic radiation by making use of the phenomenon of stimulated emission. Radiation of a laser is consistent, most often polarised and in the form of a beam with very little divergence.

Depending on their power, there are very low power, low power, medium power and high-power lasers, while in the scope of their use, the following laser categories can be distinguished: gas lasers producing ultraviolet light, lasers used in oral medicine and dermatology as well as semiconductor laser diodes.
